Daniel and Robby Grether’s February 2018 Prayer Letter

Dear Free Indeed Ministries Intercessors,

What have Daniel and Robby been up to this month?

Joel and Lettie Endress joined us one Saturday afternoon for a perfectly delightful leisurely conversation about marriage and ministry. What a privilege and joy for generations of the body of Christ to be walking closely together. Joel is on Free Indeed’s board.

Joel had earlier pointed me to Shawn MacKay, who had been part of the Revival Group that Joel leads at Access Church. Shawn and I also had an extended conversation this month that shifted my thinking in a wonderfully helpful way.

As the younger generations are strongly connecting with us, it was with great sadness and deep gratitude we accepted the resignations of a dear couple, Virg and Mary Hoeft, from the Free Indeed board this month. Robby and I began walking with them in youth ministry not long after we married in 1966. Virg and Mary have been part of Free Indeed since before we became official on Valentine’s Day 1997. Their spirits and fingerprints will be with us forever. We will miss their spiritual strength and vibrancy.

Robby and I also serve as part of the My Father’s House of Prayer team. Holy Spirit has been moving strongly among us. Friday afternoon, January 12th, Holy Spirit led me to pray a very specific prayer for a skilled worker we needed for the house restoration project. The next morning, as we were leaving a meeting, a certain young man asked about My Father’s House and mentioned something about himself that sparked my attention. This young man just may be God’s person; please pray that our team will discern the mind of the Lord correctly.

Robby and I took a journey back through time last Monday as we drove to Wilbur WA to attend the memorial service of a good friend and former parishioner. It was good to be with the family members and so many others that we knew from the congregation and community. We served Community Presbyterian Church from 1981-1994. Those were really formative years of our lives and ministry in a small town that prepared us to move back to Spokane and change our focus to a city and region.

Answered* Prayers for January 2018

Sunday, 12/31/17, 10:00 am, Robby and Daniel will lead worship and message at Lincoln Heights Community Church.

* We shared what the Lord has prepared for his Church in Spokane and the Inland Northwest. Our Father is bringing us up to full stature in Christ by his glorious presence among us.

Thursday, 1/4/18, Chris Rodgers and Daniel have their first meeting to compare notes on leading people to Christ and discipling them.

* Chris’s shared his North Star diagram. I responded, “What you are carrying of God’s heart is full of the Spirit and precious to the body of Christ here in Spokane.”

Thursday, 1/4/18, 1:00-2:00 pm, Daniel will lead an online prayer session for Moody Bible Institute Spokane and Spiritual Revival in Spokane on the Aqueduct Project Prayer Center.

* This new experience of praying online, able to see and hear everyone on the call, was a good, personal prayer time with strong intercession.

Saturday, 1/6/18, updating with Volkhard and Marianne Graf who lead Native Ministries with the Nez Perce and others.

* We had wonderful fellowship and prayer around the dinner table.

Sunday, 1/7/18, Grethers will join Sam O’Bannan in worship at Heart of the City, Coeur d’Alene, and then catch up with this young man we love.

* Our young friend is among the leadership in this mostly young, quite energetic congregation.

Monday, 1/8/18, Grethers have been invited as honored guests to the Spokane Tribe Casino grand opening celebration.

* It was a great joy to be with leaders of the Spokane Tribe of Indians on this landmark occasion as they begin the development of some of their ancestral land on the West Plains for the well-being of their whole tribe.

Thursday, 1/11/18, 9:00 am, Daniel with Shawn MacKay.

* We enjoyed a long solid productive conversation. I concluded that Shawn has a DNA that is similar to Free Indeed’s. We will be exploring how to walk more intentionally together.

Friday, 1/12/18, 9:30-11:30, Free Indeed Ministries Int’l annual board meeting.

* An update is in the first paragraphs above.

Wednesday-Thursday, 1/17-18/18, Cascadia Summit at Horizon Church, Seattle.

* We focused on the earlier women’s retreat. Registrations are open for both.

I’m glad to see some open space on February’s calendar. It’s “elbow space” for Holy Spirit to take us into what the Lord Jesus wants to do next.

We are so blessed to have you prayer warriors and intercessors standing with us in sustaining prayer. We love and appreciate you. Thank you so much! May your reward be great.

Yours and Christ’s for a radiant Spokane that blesses all the families and peoples of the earth,

Daniel and Robby Grether
